What is it and why do we need it?
The ability of end users to trace the origin of their beef. This allows them to understand the inputs and ethos of the farmer producing the product. They can then make informed decisions about the beef they purchase.
Beef traceability also assists in disease management and control. Knowing the source of beef cattle and the destination, allows us to monitor and prevent the spread of diseases. When cattle are medicated, we can monitor the periods after which it is safe to consume the beef.
Beef traceability helps build trust and confidence in food safety.
